HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College, ranked No. 6 in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25, returns home for a non-conference game against No. 25 Swarthmore (PA) College on Thursday night, December 14, at 7 p.m. in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. The nationally-ranked Tigers are 7-1 overall, remaining 2-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), following a 78-65 non-conference road win at William Peace University on Dec. 12 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The nationally-ranked Garnet are 7-2 overall, remaining 4-0 in the Centennial Conference after a 77-57 non-conference home loss to Widener (PA) University on Dec. 9—WU was receiving votes last week; however, is ranked No. 20 this week after the win at SC. H-SC defeated WU 72-63 in the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic on November 17 in Ohio. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the fifth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 114-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 59-36 overall at the College, including 33-22 in ODAC games. The Garnet are coached by 11th-year head coach Landry Kosmalski. SC has been led by senior guard Vinny DeAngelo (15.3 points, 20 3FGs) and senior forward Michael Caprise (14.9 points, 8.4 rebounds). The Garnet shoot 42% (228-543) from the field, including 33% (70-210) on three-pointers (7.8 per game), and 75% (101-134) at the line; scoring 69.7 points, and yielding 65.6 points, for a +4.1 scoring margin. Coach Landry has led SC to three Centennial Conference Championships and six-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2023 Final Four. Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at VCU and his eighth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ...
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his sixth year at Longwood. Entering this season, Turner was 265-170 at UCI ... Odom was 141-85 overall, including 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 88-72 at Longwood.
