The nationally-ranked Tigers are 6-1 overall, 2-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), following an important 61-52 road win at (RV) Randolph-Macon on Dec. 8. The Pacers are 4-4 overall, after an 82-67 home win past ODAC member the University of Lynchburg on Dec. 10, while yet to play a game in the USA South Athletic Conference. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the fifth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 114-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 58-36 overall at the College, including 33-22 in ODAC games. The Pacers are coached by 12th-year head coach Claude Shields, who has built the program into existence since his hiring in 2011 ... he recruited and coached H-SC assistant coach
Bryson Gibson (2012-15), who later served as assistant coach under Shields (2016-18). WPU has been led by senior forward Timothy Pettiford (14.6 points), senior guard/forward Beau Bryant (12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds) and junior guard Michael Dulin (10.7 points, 21 3FGs). The Pacers shoot 44% (221-508) from the field, including 34% (83-245) on three-pointers, and 66% (106-161) at the line; scoring 70.1 points, and yielding 76.7 points, for a -6.6 scoring margin.
Series History
H-SC and WPU are playing for just the seventh time in a series that is tied at 3-3. The Pacers have won two-straight and three of the last four games between the two schools, including 96-71 in the most recent contest on November 18, 2018 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium. The Tigers' last win in the series was on Dec. 14, 2016 at home (86-74), and the last H-SC win in Raleigh was on Nov. 24, 2015 (89-84)—the Garnet & Grey are 1-2 at WPU.

John Carroll (OH) (7-0) was ranked No. 1 with 582 points and 13 first-place votes, followed by Calvin (MI) (7-0, 581) at No. 2, fellow ODAC member Guilford (9-0, 570) at No. 3, Oswego State (NY) (7-0, 544) at No. 4 and Tufts (MA) (10-0, 493) at No. 5. Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at VCU and his eighth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ...
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his sixth year at Longwood. Entering this season, Turner was 265-170 at UCI ... Odom was 141-85 overall, including 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 88-72 at Longwood.
