HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College senior All-American safety and team captain Will Pickren (Mount Pleasant, SC) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games played on October 28. Pickren was selected for his outstanding efforts during a 42-21 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) road win at Guilford (NC) College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Pickren finished with 12 tackles, including seven solo, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble that was recovered by freshman cornerback Jay Daniels (Arlington) at the GC 32-yard line with 1:32 on the first-half clock, and the Tigers scored on the next play to lead 21-14 at the intermission. Will leads the Garnet & Grey with 78 total tackles in eight games, including 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, three pass breakups, one fumble recovery that he returned 33 yards for a touchdown at Greensboro College on September 16, one forced fumble and one blocked punt. He ranks fourth in the ODAC in total tackles and tackles per game (9.8), and is tied for seventh in interceptions, while having one of just two fumble returns for a touchdown in the conference this season. Pickren now totals 345 career tackles and is tied with Brendan Weinberg '22 for the school record, with two games remaining.

H-SC will welcome ODAC opponent Shenandoah University on Saturday, November 4, at 1 p.m. on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. It will be Senior Day on the Hill with a special pregame ceremony in recognition of the 25 senior Tigers, including Pickren, while also the final home game for retiring 24th-year head coach Marty Favret.
