HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College senior quarterback
Andrew Puccinelli (Glen Allen) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Football Offensive Player of the Week for week six of the 2023 season. This is the second time this season that Puccinelli has earned the weekly distinction, as he was the ODAC's honoree for week three, as well.
Puccinelli passed for a game-high 296 yards (21-25-1) and four touchdowns—tying his career-high—with one interception during a 48-10 home win past conference opponent Ferrum College on October 7. He tossed two second-quarter touchdown passes to sophomore wide receiver
Mason Cunningham as the Tigers took control of the contest … the first on a 38-yard connection at 10:30, and the second on a 24-yard connection at 1:33. Puccinelli added two third-quarter touchdown passes, as well—the first when he found senior wide receiver
Braeden Bowling open in the end zone for a 29-yard score at 10:14, and the second when he connected with junior wide receiver
Austin Fernandez on a three-yard score with 2:21 left in the quarter. The interception thrown against the Panthers was just the first of the season for Puccinelli.
In four games played this season, Puccinelli has passed for 1,067 yards (80-110-1) and 12 touchdowns with only the one interception, adding one rushing touchdown. He leads the ODAC in passing yards (1,067), passing yards per game (266.8), passing touchdowns (12), passing efficiency (188.4), completion percentage (72.7) and total offense per game (263.8). Andrew is the son of Luke and Kirstin Puccinelli of Glen Allen.
H-SC (3-2, 1-1 ODAC) will play on the road next weekend at ODAC opponent Averett University (3-2, 0-2 ODAC) on Saturday, October 14, at 4 p.m.—please note the later starting time—in Danville.
