EMORY, Va. -- Freshman 
Christian Chambers (Midlothian) hit a three-run home run in the second game, while senior 
Ethan Badin (Richmond) and sophomore 
Lucas Burnette (Hurt) each had two hits, to help Hampden-Sydney College split a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Emory & Henry College on Saturday afternoon in Emory. Junior 
Owen Tappy (Charlotte, NC) gained the pitching win in relief in the 10-3 nightcap, while junior 
Justin Woodall (Mechanicsville) took the hard-luck mound setback in the 3-0 opener for the visiting Tigers (19-14) against the host Wasps (9-25).
In the seven-inning second game, H-SC scored 10 runs on 11 hits with two errors … scoring two runs in the third inning, one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth, and five runs in the seventh. E&H scored three runs on four hits with one error … scoring the three runs in the second inning.
In the third, Badin (2-4, RBI) singled to open the at-bat, advanced to second on a single by sophomore 
Tillman Butler (Culpeper) (1-3) and scored on an RBI single by junior captain 
Ryan Boyce (Suffolk) (1-4, RBI). Butler later crossed the plate on a ground ball double-play.
In the fourth, Burnette (2-3) doubled to left field to open the frame, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by freshman 
Jahiem Green (Stafford) (1-1) and scored when freshman 
Jaxon Masterson (Raleigh, NC) (1-4, RBI) tripled down the right field line.
In the fifth, Boyce reached on a fielder's choice and promptly scored when senior captain 
Trey Karnes (Mechanicsville) (1-3, RBI) followed with a run-scoring double to center field.
In the sixth, Green was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a ground ball, stole third base and then scored courtesy of a wild pitch.
In the seventh, Boyce drew a one-out walk ahead of senior 
Mark Evans (Yorktown) reaching on a fielder's choice, before Chambers (1-1, 3 RBIs) followed with a pinch-hit, three-run home run to right field. Burnette then walked and later scored on a wild pitch, while sophomore 
Trent Jones (Virginia Beach) also walked as a pinch-hitter and later crossed the plate via an RBI single by Badin.
Tappy (5-4) tossed 2.2 scoreless innings of middle relief, yielding one hit with three strikeouts and no walks. Freshman 
Lance Tate (Stanardsville) started and pitched the first 2.1 innings, allowing two hits and three runs, two earned, with one strikeout and three walks. Freshman 
Dylan Robbins (Mechanicsville) tossed one shutout inning, yielding no hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Sophomore 
Ryan Portes (Midlothian) pitched a scoreless inning, as well, allowing one hit with no strikeouts and no walks.
In the seven-inning first game, H-SC had four hits with no errors. E&H scored three runs on five hits with one error … scoring one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the sixth.
Woodall (1-3) started and pitched 6.0 solid innings, scattering five hits and three runs, all earned, with four strikeouts and no walks.
