Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Tigers Fall To Roanoke At Home, 13-9

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va - Senior Bobby Clagett (Brandywine, MD) scored four goals, while Sophomores Patrick Saunders (Alexandria, VA) and Ray O'Brien (Scituate, MA) added two apiece, but it wasn't enough as the Hampden-Sydney College Lacrosse team fell to visiting Roanoke College by a final score of 13-9.  The loss dropped the Tigers to 6-4 overall, 1-2 in ODAC play and halted their three game win streak.  With the win, the Maroons improved to 7-4 and moved up in the ODAC standings with their third conference victory.

The first quarter saw Roanoke get on the board for a 1-0 lead, but Clagett scored on a man-up opportunity after taking a quick pass from O'Brien.  Hampden-Sydney eventually fell behind by two goals but, once again, Clagett found the back of the net on an assist from Senior Sean Duffy (Ambler, PA), which was followed up in the second quarter, by a Duffy goal tying the game at 3-3.  With only 1:30 remaining in the half, and after a Maroons' penalty, Saunders skipped one pass the goalie for the Tigers' fourth goal of the game, but they would head into halftime trailing, 6-4.

In the third quarter, Roanoke outscored Hampden-Sydney by a margin of four to one, with their lone goal coming from O'Brien, after another Maroons' penalty.  However, Clagett started a comeback in the fourth quarter scoring two goals, with 0'Brien scoring another, to pull to within three, 11-8.  Unfortunately, that comeback would stall and Roanoke held on for the win, 13-9.

The Tigers will return to action next Saturday, April 9, when they host Randolph College in another ODAC conference matchup.  Face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
