Hampden-Sydney Plays At Guilford (NC) On Tuesday Night At 7 p.m.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College plays on the road at Guilford College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball action on Tuesday night, February 8, at 7 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tigers are 11-7 overall, 6-5 in the ODAC, while the Quakers are 13-5 overall, 9-2 in the ODAC. The game will be available to watch via Guilford Athletics.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the third-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon College (AL) from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 112-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Caleb is 27-24 overall at the College, including 15-16 in ODAC games.

Scouting Hampden-Sydney
The Tigers dropped their most recent contest at Lynchburg, 67-64, on Feb. 1. H-SC defeated the Quakers in the first meeting this season, 62-58, on January 25 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium. The Tigers have three players averaging in double figures among seven scoring at least 6.6 points per game. Junior guard Ryan Clements (Conyers, GA) leads the balanced-scoring team with his 12.8 points, adding 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists, followed by sophomore forward Davidson Hubbard (Charlotte, NC) (11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 59% FGs) and fifth-year forward and team captain Jake Hahn (Ruckersville) (11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists). H-SC is shooting 45% (509-1121) from the field, including 33% (142-427) on three-point field goals, and 72% (226-313) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 77.0 points, and allows 69.0 points, for a +8.0 scoring margin.

Scouting Guilford (NC)
The Quakers are coached by 20th-year veteran Coach Tom Palombo and last played on Feb. 5 at ODAC member Shenandoah, winning 70-49. GC has been led by two double-figure scorers in senior forward Liam Ward (19.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals) and junior guard Tyler Dearman (13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 32 3FGs). The Quakers shoot 42% (461-1097) from the field, including 35% (123-348) on three-pointers, and 71% (213-301) at the line; scoring 69.9 points, yielding just 60.6 points, for a +9.3 scoring margin.

ODAC Series History
H-SC and GC are playing for the 59th time as ODAC opponents since the Quakers joined the conference prior to the 1991-92 season. The Tigers lead the league series at 37-21, including the 62-58 win in the most recent contest between the two schools on Jan. 25 in Fleet Gym.

H-SC will play at home again on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. against ODAC member Roanoke College on Senior Day in Fleet Gym. The Tigers will recognize Jake Hahn and senior forward/center Jack Wyatt (Richmond) during a special pregame ceremony. H-SC will remain at home to welcome conference opponent Bridgewater College on Monday night, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
