Nic Graziano (Virginia Beach took the pitching setback for the Tigers (3-2) against the Bulldogs (3-1) at the Armstrong Invitational being hosted by Methodist University.
H-SC scored two runs on six hits with three errors … scoring one run in the second inning and one run in the ninth. DU scored 12 runs on nine hits with three errors … scoring one run in the first inning, two runs in the third, seven runs in the seventh and two runs in the ninth.
Highlights included a 3-3 effort at the plate by Badin, who added a stolen base, along with an RBI single by freshman
Matthew Arnold (Danville) (1-4, RBI) in the second inning that scored freshman
Christian Chambers (Midlothian) (0-3), who had walked and stole second base.
Graziano (0-1) started and pitched the first 6.0 innings, yielding just two hits and three runs, one earned, with six strikeouts and three walks. Junior
Justin Woodall (Mechanicsville) tossed a scoreless eighth inning for the Tigers, allowing no hits with one strikeout and no walks.
H-SC will play Penn State Abington on Saturday, February 26, at 5 p.m. in North Carolina.
