No. 7 Hampden-Sydney Plays No. 2 Guilford (NC) In The ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals On Thursday At 6 p.m.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College plays Guilford (NC) College in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament on Thursday evening, February 24, at 6 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem. H-SC is 14-10 overall, and the #7 seed, while GC is 17-6 overall, and the #2 seed. The Tigers and Quakers split two close games during the regular season, each team winning on their own floor ... H-SC taking a 62-58 home win on January 25, and GC taking a 62-59 home win on Feb. 8. Scouting Hampden-Sydney
The Tigers are completing their third season under the direction of head coach Caleb Kimbrough (30-27 overall). Coach Kimbrough played four years at GC and coached six seasons with the Quakers, all under current head coach Tom Palombo. H-SC advanced to the quarterfinals with an 86-71 home win past #10 seed Shenandoah on Feb. 21. The Tigers have three players averaging in double figures among seven scoring at least 6.6 points per game. Junior guard Ryan Clements (Conyers, GA) leads the balanced-scoring team with his 13.2 points, adding 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists, followed by fifth-year forward and team captain Jake Hahn (Ruckersville) (10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds) and sophomore forward Davidson Hubbard (Charlotte, NC) (10.0 points, 6.8 rebounds). H-SC is shooting 45% (663-1477) from the field, including 34% (189-561) on three-point field goals, and 74% (289-393) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 75.2 points, and allow 68.6 points, for a +6.6 scoring margin.

Scouting Guilford (NC)
The Quakers, receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25, are coached by the 20th-year veteran Coach Palombo and last played on Feb. 19 at home against ODAC member Randolph-Macon, falling 72-66. GC has been led by senior forward Liam Ward (19.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals), junior guard Tyler Dearman (13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 41 3FGs) and redshirt-junior guard Jorden Davis (10.1 points, 33 3FGs). The Quakers shoot 42% (579-1381) from the field, including 36% (159-444) on three-pointers, and 72% (286-400) at the line; scoring 69.7 points, yielding just 61.1 points, for a +8.6 scoring margin.

Series History (ODAC)
H-SC and GC are playing for the 60th time as ODAC opponents since the Quakers joined the conference prior to the 1991-92 season. The Tigers lead the league series at 37-22, though GC did win 62-59 in the most recent contest between the two schools on Feb. 8 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

ODAC Tournament History
H-SC is 59-33 all-time in ODAC Tournament games. The Tigers have played in a record 15 ODAC Tournament Championship games, winning 10 ODAC Tournament Titles (tied for most with Roanoke). The 59 tournament wins are the most of any school. H-SC last won a conference tournament championship in 2007, defeating Roanoke 77-62. The Tigers last played in the title contest in 2014, falling to Virginia Wesleyan 77-74. H-SC won eight ODAC Tournament Championships from 1989-2002.
