Buena Vista, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fell in its matchup with Southern Virginia University, 110-56, Friday night at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista.
The Tigers took a best finish of second place in seven different events. Sophomore
Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) took the first second-place finish with an 11:18.22 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Hardimon also took another second-place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:26.32. Senior captain
Andrew Rehak (Radford) finished second in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:18.89, while in the 200 Yard Butterfly sophomore
Charles Adams (Mechanicsville) took home second with a time of 2:43.44. The 100 Yard Freestyle saw junior
Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC) finish in a time of 55.58 seconds which was good for second and a sixth second place finish came from sophomore
Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with his time of 2:17.92. The final second place came in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the team of Adams, sophomore
Kevin Busch (Greensboro, NC), freshman
Rahul Parekh (Kissimmee, FL), and sophomore
Matt Brooks (Springfield) finished with a time of 4:44.32.
The only other team event of the meet was the 200 Yard Medley Relay that saw a third-place finish for the team of Hardimon, Rehak, Hyde and Duffy with their time of 1:51.62.
Brooks and Adams finished back-to-back in third and fourth in the 200 Yard Freestyle finishing with times of 2:03.62 and 2:15.84 respectively. They were followed by Busch in sixth with his time of 2:39.54.
It was back-to-back-to-back finishes for the Tigers in the 50 Yard Freestyle with Duffy finishing in fourth with a time of 24.23 seconds, followed up by freshman
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL) in fifth with a time of 28.26 seconds, and Parekh finishing in 35.57 seconds for sixth.
Following Rehak's second place finish in the 200 Yard IM was Hyde and Piazza, in third and fourth finishing with times of 2:23.22 and 2:46.19.
Busch took home third place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with his time of 1:08.70. He was followed up in fourth by Parekh who finished the event with a time of 1:25.48.
In the 200 Yard Breaststroke, Hyde took home second, but Rehak grabbed third only finishing 19 hundredths of a second behind Hyde. Piazza finished in fourth in the event with his time of 2:44.98.
Brooks took home third place for H-SC in the 500 Yard Freestyle finishing behind Hardimon with a time of 5:50.78.
The Tigers will be back in the pool on Saturday, November 5, when they travel to Sweet Briar College for the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) meet of the year against Virginia Wesleyan. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Prothro Natatorium in Sweet Briar.
