Hampden-Sydney Picks Up ODAC Win Over Randolph 3-2

Lynchburg, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College soccer team had three different scorers in their 3-2 victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Randolph College, Saturday night at WildCat Stadium in Lynchburg, VA

The Tigers came out of the gates firing taking less than 10 minutes to get on the board as junior Declan Shaw (Durham, NC) took the pass over the top from freshman Charlie Letson (Wilmington, NC), and made a few dribbles and a move to beat his defender before beating the keeper for the goal. Six minutes later, H-SC had a two-goal lead on a back post header from senior Boyce Purdie (Clinton, NC) off a great cross from junior Jackson Burkhart (Raleigh, NC). Burkhart grabbed another assist 20 minutes later, as the ball found him at the edge of the box following a headed clearance from the WildCats defense and he fired a shot on goal that was deflected off the foot of senior Michael Ogenyi (Virginia Beach) for the goal and a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The WildCats wasted no time getting one back after halftime as ten minutes after halftime as junior Hordy Ndambo flicked a pass to senior Noah Carney who blasted hit home for the goal. Randolph made it a quick fire double as Carney flicked a ball over his head onto the run of junior Issac Carney for the goal. Both sides could not find the back of the net the rest of the way as the Tigers took the win 3-2.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 12 when they play host to Shenandoah University in an ODAC clash. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
