Ferrum, VA – Freshman
Landon Niday (Roanoke) scored two goals in six minutes including his first career goal in the Hampden-Sydney College soccer team's, 4-0, victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member, Ferrum College Sunday afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field in Ferrum, VA.
The first half saw a defense battle between both the Tigers and Panthers with only eight shot being fired towards the goal and only three troubling either goalkeeper.
The second half saw a bit more action in front of the net as a Tiger was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty that was taken by junior
Ben Beason (Cary, NC), who beat the keeper for the opening goal of the game. Senior
Michael Ogenyi (Virginia Beach) got onto the scoresheet 14 minutes after the Beason penalty finishing off the pass from junior
Stefan Ngoh (Goldvein). Another 14 minutes after scoring the goal Ogenyi was setting up his teammate has Niday scored his first goal of his career to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Six minutes later he doubled his career tally as his solo effort gave Hampden-Sydney a 4-0 lead with six minutes remaining to claim the victory.
The Tigers will finish the regular season and ODAC play on Wednesday, October 26, when they travel to the University of Lynchburg for a matchup with the Hornets. The game will begin at 4 p.m. at Shellenberger Field in Lynchburg, VA.
