Hampden-Sydney Rugby falls at Emory and Henry

Emory and Henry scores late in back and forth thriller

Emory, VA The H-SC Rugby team fell to Cardinal Collegiate League foe Emory and Henry on Saturday 25-22 in a match that featured eight lead changes and a late score by E&H. Emory and Henry began the scoring with a three point kick. In his first game back in a return from injury, Teddy Hendrickson scored the first try of the game. The extra point failed, to bring the score to 5-3. E&H then scored another try to regain the lead 8-5. H-SC freshman Thomas Nichols scored to give the lead to H-SC and make the score 10-8. E&H scored again before halftime to make the score at the half 13-10. At start of the second half, Teddy Hendrickson scored a 40 yard breakaway to help H-SC regain the lead 15-13. E&H then scored a try and the lead changed again at 18-15. Graeme Ebert scored a try to give H-SC the lead again and then Ebert added the extra point to make the score 22-18 in favor of H-SC. The final score came from E&H with a try in the waning moments and converted the kick to set the final score at 25-22. The Ruggers return to a match at home this Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 pm vs William and Mary on the Ellis Rugby Pitch.
