Lexington, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College soccer team fell to the nationally ranked number 13 Washington and Lee University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game at Aston Parker Watt Field in Lexington, VA.
The Generals opened the scoring in the 19th minute as sophomore PJ Ryan headed in the failed clearance off the corner by the Tigers to take an early 1-0 lead into halftime.
W&L doubled their lead just over five minutes after the second half started as senior Michael Kutsanzira played a ball into the box for sophomore Weyimi Agbeyegbe who finished passed the goalie. Kutsanzira added a second assist in back to back goals as his pass found freshman Matteo Adler on the wing and he did the rest for the goal. H-SC broke the shutout with just 10 seconds remaining as junior
Stefan Ngoh (Goldvein) played a ball into the box through the defense that found senior
Michael Ogenyi (Virginia Beach) who poked it past the keeper to make it 3-1 and finish it that way.
The Tigers will be back in action when they play host to Roanoke College on Wednesday, October 5. The ODAC game will be played at 7 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
