HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College hosts Randolph College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball action on Wednesday night, January 12, at 7 p.m. in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. It's the first home contest for the Tigers since December 19. H-SC is 7-3 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC, while the WildCats are 3-8 overall, 0-3 in the ODAC. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the third-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon College (AL) from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 112-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford College (NC) and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Caleb is 23-20 overall at the College, including 11-12 in ODAC games.
Scouting Hampden-Sydney
The Tigers dropped their most recent contest on the road at Washington and Lee, 79-74, on Jan. 8 in Lexington. H-SC has three players averaging in double figures among nine scoring at least 5.1 points per game. Junior guard
Ryan Clements (Conyers, GA) leads the balanced-scoring team with his 14.6 points, adding 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists, followed by fifth-year forward and team captain
Jake Hahn (Ruckersville) (12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds) and sophomore guard
Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) (12.0 points, 3.3 assists, 25 3FGs). The Tigers are shooting 46% (300-647) from the field, including 37% (90-241) on three-point field goals, and 73% (145-200) at the free throw line. The Tigers are averaging 83.5 points, and allowing 70.7 points, for a +12.8 scoring margin.
Scouting Randolph
The Wildcats are coached by sixth-year head coach Pete Hamilton, and last played on Jan. 8 at home against ODAC member Eastern Mennonite, falling 79-72. Randolph has been led by senior guard Evan Makle (13.5 points, 24 3FGs), senior guard/forward CJ Loving (13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds), junior guard Danny Bickey (13.1 points, 26 3FGs) and senior guard/forward Jerry Goodman (10.1 points). The WildCats shoot 45% (314-694) from the field, including 37% (88-236) on three-pointers, and 65% (127-195) at the line; scoring 76.6 points, yielding 83.4 points.
Series History
H-SC leads the all-time series between the two schools, 9-7. The Tigers won the most recent game played by a score of 61-53 on Jan. 22, 2020 at Fleet Gym. Randolph won the first-ever contest between the two schools by a score of 57-49 on Jan. 28, 2009 in Lynchburg, as current WildCat head coach Pete Hamilton scored a game-high 20 points, including 5-8 three-pointers, also Randolph's first-ever ODAC victory in men's basketball.
