Everett Stadium. The host Tigers are 0-2 this season, while the visiting Hornets are 2-0, each school opening with two non-conference opponents, respectively. H-SC played on the road last weekend, dropping a 34-27 non-conference decision at Widener (PA). The Tigers trailed just 21-17 at halftime, and were within 21-20 early in the fourth quarter, before the host Pride scored two late touchdowns during the final five minutes to secure their home win. SU played on the road last weekend, as well, taking a 30-21 non-conference victory at North Carolina Wesleyan. The Hornets scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter toward their win, including a pair of field goals, before adding a last-minute touchdown.

H-SC is led by the veteran head coach who is the second-winningest coach in school history with 135 victories (135-78), including 15 winning campaigns, while a five-time ODAC Coach of the Year. His program is 86-46 in ODAC games, while earning five ODAC Championships and making six NCAA Division III Football Championship playoff appearances

H-SC is expected to be led offensively by senior quarterback and team captain
Tanner Bernard (Lynchburg), senior running back
Kaleb Smith (Rocky Mount) and fifth-year wide receiver and second-year team captain
Dillon Costello (Haymarket). Bernard passed for 316 yards (23-35) and one touchdown and one interception last week ... the TD coming on a two-yard completion to fifth-year slot receiver
Nick Kallivokas (Purcellville). Costello had five receptions for 91 yards receiving a week ago, while Smith added six catches for 79 yards and added 47 yards rushing on 13 attempts with one touchdown. Sophomore wide receiver
Braeden Bowling (Cary, NC) had six catches for 75 yards.

Will Pickren (Mt Pleasant, SC) and fifth-year linebacker and team captain
Brendan Weinberg (Apex, NC) once again
led the Tigers defense in week two with 15 and 13 tackles, respectively, and each had 1.5 tackles for loss. Senior linebacker
Garrett Robinson (Culpeper) added a collegiate-best 10 tackles with half a tackle for loss and half a sack, as well, while sophomore safety
James-Ryan Salvi (Troutville) had a collegiate-best nine tackles. Sophomore cornerback
Tobias Lafayette (Charleston, SC) contributed four tackles and his first collegiate interception a week ago.
Junior placekicker
Jack Breedlove (Atlanta, GA) was a perfect 3-3 on PATs, and also added 2-3 field goals, including a collegiate-best of 39 yards. Sophomore left-footed punter
George Langhammer (Roanoke) averaged 42.5 yards on four punts, including a long of 49 yards.
Scouting The Hornets
SU is expected to be led offensively by quarterbacks Steven Hugney and Zack Mathis, running back Rashadeen Byrd Jr. and wide receivers Ethan Bigbee and Brant Butler. Hugney has passed for 93 yards (9-23) and one touchdown with two interceptions, while Mathis has passed for 301 yards (12-25) and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Byrd has rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Bigbee has seven receptions for 205 yards and three touchdowns, while Butler has seven catches for 122 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, linebacker Ben Burgan has 17 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and one interception. Defensive tackle Mason Caldwell has 15 tackles, including five for loss, with two sacks and one pass breakup, while linebacker David Agyei adds 12 tackles, four for loss, and one interception.
Placekicker Patrick Ritchie is a perfect 7-7 on PATs, and 3-3 on field goals, including a long of 31 yards. He has averaged 49.3 yards on 13 kickoffs, as well, with one touchback. Ritchie has averaged 37.3 yards on seven punts, including a long of 48 yards.
Hall of Fame Weekend
H-SC is inducting two classes into its
Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend, the Class of 2020 on Friday night, Sept. 17, due to last year's ceremony being postponed (COVID-19), along with the Class of 2021 on Saturday morning, Sept. 18.

Ed Curry '95, four-time All-ODAC Basketball honoree
Turner King '10, the late
Mike Melvin '98, an All-Region and All-ODAC selection in Soccer, and three-time All-ODAC Football standout
Josh Simpson '09. In addition,
Norwood Davis '63, a 1,000-point career scorer in Basketball and long-time benefactor to the College, will receive a special citation.
