SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College swim team dropped a neutral site meet with Southern Virginia University on Saturday afternoon, 144-102. The dual took place on the campus of Sweet Briar College. The Knights won each of the 14 events on the day.
The relay team of junior Andrew Rehak (Radford), freshman Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), senior Woody Parsons (Virginia Beach), and freshman Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria) opened the day with a third place finish in the 200 Meter Medley Relay in 1:59.44. Hardimon took second in the next men's event, the 1500 Meter Freestyle, with a time of 18:43.87.
Freshman Matt Brooks (Springfield) finished third in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:18.50. Rehak and freshman Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA) finished two, three in the 100 Meter Backstroke with times of 1:07.67 and 1:07.78, respectively. Renfrow and senior Dane Warner (Norfolk) followed up in the 200 Meter Breaststroke with Renfrow finishing 1:18.65 and Warner in 1:23.02.
In the 200 Meter Butterfly, freshman Charles Adams (Mechanicsville) finished second in 3:02.00 with Warner finishing third in 3:29.00. Parsons touched the boards second in the 50 Meter Freestyle in 26.71 while junior Braxton Psuik (Glen Allen) touched third in :27.05. Brooks and Psuik went two, three in the 100 Meter Freestyle with times of 1:02.73 and 1:05.53, respectively. The 200 Meter Backstroke saw Rehak and Hardimon once again help the Tigers finish second and third in an event.
In the 200 Meter Breaststroke, Renfrow finished second in 3:01.23 and sophomore Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC) finished third in 3:24.95. Adams and junior Patrick Garifo (Charlotte, NC) continue the streak of finishing as the second and third place finishers in the 400 Meter Freestyle with times of 5:42.65 and 6:00.78, respectively.
Parsons and fellow senior Jason Covaney (Williamsburg) finished the 100 Meter Butterfly in 1:03.93 and 1:08.48, respectively. Rehak (2:30.93) and Brooks (2:48.80) took part in the 200 Meter Individual Medley. In the final event of the day, the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay), Parsons, Covaney, Brooks, and Hardimon finished second in 1:45.94 while senior Ben Hiter (Mineral), Psuik, Duffy, and Adams finished third in 1:51.72.
H-SC will return to the pool on Saturday, January 22, 2022, when it hosts Ferrum College at Leggett Pool. The Tigers will honor their six seniors prior to the dual meet with the Panthers as part of their Senior Day meet.
