HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fifth-year linebacker
Brendan Weinberg (Apex, NC) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Defensive Player of the Week for week nine of the conference football season.
Weinberg finished with a team-high 13 tackles, including three for loss, one sack, two interceptions, one blocked punt and one pass breakup to lead H-SC to a 38-21 non-conference road win at The Apprentice School on October 30 in Newport News. His blocked punt set-up the Tigers' third touchdown scored during the decisive third quarter at 1:15, while his second interception of the day led to the visitor's final touchdown with 3:15 remaining.
Through eight games, Weinberg has totaled 90 tackles, including 13.5 for loss, three sacks, along with the two interceptions, one blocked punt and one pass breakup. He has collected 10 or more tackles in six games this season. Prior to this past weekend's game, Weinberg ranked third in the ODAC and 12th in NCAA Division III total tackles per game (11.0).
H-SC will welcome Bridgewater College in ODAC action on Saturday, November 6, at 1 p.m.,
Senior Day at Everett Stadium in the final regular season home game for the Tigers.
