HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore cornerback
Tobias Lafayette (Charleston, SC) has been named to the
D3football.com Team of the Week for games played the weekend of October 23. Lafayette was selected for his defensive efforts during a 42-28 Homecoming victory past Ferrum College (Oct. 23) on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
Lafayette had six tackles and a game-high two interceptions to help the Tigers to their home win. His first pick came on a fourth down play in the second quarter and was officially returned 12 yards—a penalty negated a long return of 60 yards into opponent territory, before his second interception came in the third quarter and he returned it 32 yards. Lafayette now has four interceptions in the past two games for an ODAC-best five picks on the season. Through seven games, he is fifth on the team with 31 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, with the five interceptions—returned for 115 yards—and three pass breakups.
H-SC plays on the road at The Apprentice School in non-conference action on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. in Newport News.
