HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College senior running back Kaleb Smith (Rocky Mount) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week for week eight of the conference football season.

Smith rushed for a game-high and season-high 138 yards and three touchdowns to lead H-SC to a 42-28 home win past Ferrum College on October 23 during Homecoming on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. He opened the scoring with a one-yard TD run early in the first quarter, added a six-yard score late in the second quarter to give the Tigers a 28-21 halftime advantage, and added a game-securing 52-yard TD run late in the contest for the hosts. His game-high and season-high 138 yards came on 21 carries, adding 27 yards receiving on four receptions, for 165 all-purpose yards—also his highest total this season—as well as his second 100-yard rushing effort.

Kaleb has rushed for 434 yards on 84 attempts (5.2) with six rushing touchdowns, adding 245 yards receiving on 23 receptions (10.7), totaling 679 all-purpose yards in six games—he missed the season-opening game due to injury. He ranks third in the ODAC in all-purpose yards, fourth in rushing yards and rushing yards per game (72.3), and is fifth in rushing touchdowns.

H-SC plays on the road at The Apprentice School in non-conference action on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. in Newport News.
