Hampden-Sydney Drops ODAC Contest To Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College soccer team played through a scoreless first half against Virginia Wesleyan University on the road in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Wednesday night, but yielded a second-half goal to fall to the host Marlins, 1-0. The Tigers are now 4-6-1 overall, 1-4 in the ODAC, while the Marlins improved to 10-1-3 overall and 3-0-2 in the ODAC.

H-SC took five shots to just one for VWU in the first 45 minutes of the game. Senior goalie Ian Fitzgerald (Newport News) saved the only shot on goal by the Marlins in the first half.

VWU scored the lone goal of the game at 55:29, made by Scott Signorelli off a throw-in by Matt Campbell.

H-SC will next play on the road when it travels to Bridgewater College on Saturday, October 16. The ODAC game with the Eagles is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Bridgewater.
