Hampden-Sydney Basketball lost the regular season finale against Washington & Lee in overtime, 77-73. The Tigers secured the #8 seed and will host #9 Shenandoah on Monday at 7 pm in the ODAC Tournament.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Generals jumped to a ten point lead within the first two-and-a-half minutes of the game before the Tigers answered with 14 points of their own over the next five minutes.
- The final eight minutes of the first half went back and forth as Jake Duncan and Chaise Johnson kept the Tigers within three points by halftime.
- JaVonte Reddick tied the game at 29 in the first minute of the second half before the Generals started to run away with the lead after a Roy McMillan three-pointer.
- Halfway through the second half Justin Reid's layup put the Tigers within three points of the Generals which led to a back-and-forth affair over the final ten minutes.
- Trailing 57-55 with 1:39 to play, Reddick scored seven points for the Tigers in an 8-0 run with 23 seconds left.
- Andy Kleinlein sank a three-pointer four seconds later to make it 63-60, and then the Generals forced a five-second inbounding turnover following the bucket.
- Kleinlein missed a three pointer seconds later, but Roy McMillan grabbed the offensive rebound and kicked it out to Kleeinlein, who got fouled on a three point attempt. He converted two of three to make it a one-point game.
- Duncan tallied two free throws to put H-SC ahead by three with eight ticks left on the clock.
- Devin Kearns turned over the ball with four seconds left, but H-SC gave it right back to the Generals as Nicholas George recorded the steals and sank a buzzer-beating three to send the game to overtime
- The game was played within a one-possession score through most of the first three minutes of the extra session with the Tigers trailing 69-68 at 2:17, but W&L scored the next six to go up seven with 65 seconds left.
- Johnson drew the Tigers within four on a three-point play with 39 seconds remaining, but the Tigers were unable to convert until a tip-in just before the final buzzer as the Generals closed out the game on the charity stripe
TIGER TOP PERFORMERS
- Jake Duncan tallied 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assists
- Chaise Johnson had a career-high 19 points to go with three rebounds and three assists
- JaVonte Reddick scored 18 with seven boards and two steals
FOR THE FOES
- Clayton Murtha double-doubled with 17 points and 13 rebounds
- Andy Kleinlein contributed 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals
- Roy McMillan tacked on 12 points and nine boards
- Alex Starr added 14 points from the bench
- Devin Kearns scored 11 in addition to four caroms, four assists, and three steals
STATS OF THE GAME
- H-SC shot 35% overall, including 65% from the foul line while W&L shot 39% overall with a 58% conversion rate from the charity stripe.
- Both teams were practically even in the rebound department as H-SC had 47 to W&L's 41, with H-SC holding an 11-6 edge in second chance points
- Turnovers were even with H-SC having 16 and W&L having 15, but the Generals held a 21-10 advantage in points off turnovers

- Hampden-Sydney returns home to open the ODAC tournament as the #8 seed hosting #9 seed Shenandoah. Tipoff is set for 7 pm on Monday, February 20. The Tigers lost to Shenandoah in Winchester 69-64 on Feb. 11.
