HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hampden-Sydney got off to a cold start and trailed 10-0 after five minutes of play
- Trailing by 11, 29-18, with eight minutes left in the first half, a 10-0 H-SC run saw the Tigers down just one point with 5:11 remaining in the frame
- H-SC went on to tie the game at 32-32 at 2:43, but the Hornets closed the half on a 12-2 run to lead 44-34 at halftime.
- Guilherme Guimaraes (Ribeirão Preto, Brazil/Miller School) scored the first bucket of the second half to put the Tigers down just eight, but Austen Arnold answered with a three to give the Hornets an 11-point lead as the Tigers would trail by double digits the rest of the way

- Mitch Owens (Williamsburg, VA/Walsingham) scored a game-high 17 points as he made 6-of-10 shots and 3-of-6 from three range
- Mike Murray (Norfolk, VA/Norfolk Christian) notched 11 points, five assists, and four rebounds
- Gray Cheers (Supply, NC/West Brunswick) came off the bench to contribute 10 points and four boards
