Box Score

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Basketball scored 11 of the game's first 13 points en route to an 83-49 win over visiting Shenandoah University in ODAC action.

The H-SC defense was in lockdown mode from the outset, limiting the ODAC's highest scoring combo of Avery Green and Jared Carithers to just nine and seven points respectively, both well under 10 points worse than their season average coming in to the contest. The Hornets did not reach double-digit scoring as a team until the 6:44 mark of the first half. Shenandoah shot just 29.4% overall, 3-17 from three (17.6%), and made just 53.3% of their free throw attempts (16-30). The 29.4% shooting is the second lowest figure for H-SC opponents this season.

Khobi Williamson (Norfolk, VA / Maury) posted his sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and he provided the highlight play of the day as he stole the ball from Carithers and went coast-to-coast for the two-handed power dunk on Kevin Lecsaint. Mike Murray (Norfolk, VA / Norfolk Christian) contributed nine points, Leon Hargrove (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek) tacked on eight points and six rebounds, and Stephen Vassor (Roanoke Rapids, NC / Brunswick) tacked on eight points and four boards.
