Mac Phillips enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Tigers in 2020-21.
Phillips came to Hampden-Sydney from North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where he served as the goalkeeper coach since September. During his time at NIC, he also was a goalkeeper coach for the Spokane Shadow/Sounders Soccer Club
He graduated from The College of William & Mary in 2016 where he was a goalkeeper on the soccer team. He tied the school record for single-season shutouts with nine as a freshman in 2013, earning Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team honors. The Tribe earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2013
While in Williamsburg, he became a coach for the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club for two years.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Mac at Hampden-Sydney. He's a Virginia guy and had an excellent career at William & Mary, so he knows the soccer landscape here very well," stated Coach DiNuzzo. "He'll bring a goalkeeper's viewpoint to our coaching staff and have a positive impact on the program right away."
Coach Phillips originates from Rocky Mount, Virginia, and attended Franklin County High School where he earned First-Team All-State honors as a senior.
