Hampden-Sydney College

Billy Cameron is in his eighth year as an assistant lacrosse coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2023-24. He had previously served as an assistant coach at Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member Bridgewater College from 2012-16, coaching under Mic Grant '91, for a program that played its first varsity season in 2013. Billy also serves as a strength and conditioning coach for the athletic department.

At Bridgewater, Cameron helped the young program improve its win total each of the past two seasons he was there with a then program-record seven wins in 2016 behind their first full senior class. The Eagles posted the biggest win in program history in 2016 as they won on the road at Virginia Wesleyan.

Prior to Bridgewater, Cameron served as the head coach for the Southern Virginia Select Lacrosse club for three seasons. Aside from his club coaching duties, Cameron also was the assistant boys lacrosse coach at Salem High School where he coordinated the offense and helped propel the Spartans to the Virginia High School League (VHSL) AA state quarterfinals and a top 15 state ranking. Cameron's Salem HS duties also included time as a special education instructional assistant where he worked with students with multiple disabilities.

Cameron was a four-year starter and 2008 All-American at ODAC member Roanoke College. He was a first team All-ODAC selection as a senior and helped lead the Maroons to a pair of NCAA semifinal appearances and two ODAC Championships.

Cameron currently resides in Farmville with his wife, Alison, the head athletic trainer at Hampden-Sydney, and their son Walker.
