Daniel Eacho is in his fifth year as an assistant basketball coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2026-27, rejoining the program for the third time after serving as an assistant coach from 2018-21, and he had previously served as a volunteer assistant coach during 2016-17. Most recently, Eacho was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton from 2024-26.
Under his guidance, MBU secured its third straight winning season in 2024-25, while earning a home playoff victory over Brevard. Eacho also led MBU to another USA South playoff berth during the 2025-26 season. Collectively, MBU won 25 games during Eacho’s two seasons as Head Coach. Additionally, Eacho led efforts that triple the Men’s Basketball fundraising account during his tenure. Eacho also oversaw a roster that was awarded top Team GPA in the MBU Athletic Department.
Eacho completed three years at NCAA Division II Millersville (PA) University, including as the Associate Head Coach during 2023-24. He had joined the Millersville staff prior to the 2021-22 season and made an immediate impact, helping the Marauders to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East title, a PSAC runner-up finish and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Additionally, Eacho helped Millersville win a share of the PSAC East title and its second NCAA Tournament appearance in three years during 2023-24.
At Hampden-Sydney, Eacho helped the program orchestrate an impressive turnaround from 4-19 in 2018-19 to 14-13 record and trip to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Quarterfinals in 2019-20. As the program's academic advisor, he oversaw a GPA increase from 2.7 to 3.21, and additionally, he was integral in recruiting the core group that helped lead the Tigers to the Division III National Championship game during 2023-24.
Eacho completed his Master of Business Administration degree from Salisbury in May 2019. While at Salisbury, he helped coached the team to an 18-9 record in 2017-18, advancing to the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament, which included an 83-75 road win at #7 York (PA) College, while producing a pair of All-Conference selections.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Eacho served as the girls varsity head coach at the Fuqua School in Farmville during 2016-17. He got his start in coaching as an assistant boys varsity coach at Monacan High School in Richmond where he helped the team to a Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group 4A State Championship in 2016 with a 21-9 record that season (2015-16). Eacho served as an Auditor for the Auditor of Public Accounts in Richmond that year, as well.
Eacho graduated from Roanoke College in 2015 with Bachelor of Science degrees in political science and history with a 3.58 GPA. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Alpha Lambda Delta. A First Team All-ODAC honoree in 2013-14 and Third Team All-ODAC in 2014-15, he was the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior, and four-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team. Eacho totaled 1,311 career points while shooting 47% from the field with a career-high average of 18.8 points as a junior. Additionally, he shot at least 49% in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Eacho posted a career average of 7.0 rebounds a game, including 9.6 as a junior and 8.5 as a sophomore.
A native of North Chesterfield, Daniel and his wife Jamie have two daughters, Rosemary and Virginia. The family resides in Hampden-Sydney.
