Biography
2010-11: Was a solid post option starting in three of his 27 games. Averaged 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds-per-game in 13.3 minutes of work. Was very accurate with a nice touch, shooting 51.5% on 50-of-97 accuracy. Also hit four three-pointers. Connected on 25 of 45 free throws (.556). Scored in double figures three times, while tying his career-high of 14 points against North Carolina Wesleyan. Â
2009-10: Had a solid freshman season, appearing in 25 games while making four starts. Was seventh on the team in scoring with 4.7 points-per-game. Also rebounded well, averaging 2.8 rebounds-per-game (fourth on team). Dished out 15 assists while recording eight steals and four blocks. Efficient from the floor knocking down 53.8% of his shots on 42 of 78 accuracy. Scored a career-high 14 points against then-ranked #1 Randolph-Macon while shooting a career-best 66.7% (6-9). Also scored in double-digits with an 11 point performance against Emory & Henry. In the Tigers' second meeting with the Yellow Jackets, Potapov pulled down a career-high six rebounds.
High School/AAU Career: Attended Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, FL for his junior and senior seasons. Averaged seven points and six rebounds as a junior and 10 points and seven rebounds as a senior from his center position. Also played for Lynchburg Hoops AAU Team.
Personal: Born June 1, 1990. Son of Mikhail Potapov and Irima Potapova. Has one sibling, Dennis (28).
