Josh Baker '22 is in his third year as an assistant football coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2024-25, serving as the tight ends coach for the second season after one year coaching the running backs. Baker was given additional duties as co-special teams coordinator and video coordinator in August 2024. He coached Melik Frost to First Team All-ODAC running back honors in 2022, and Second Team All-ODAC in 2023.
Baker was a four-year team member with the Tigers (2018-21). He started six of eight career games on the offensive line, including as the starting right guard in six of seven games played as a senior. He helped the Tigers account for 3,585 yards of total offense (358.5), including 956 yards rushing (95.6) and 2,629 yards passing (262.9) with 35 touchdowns in 2021.
A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Josh is a 2022 Magna cum laude graduate of Hampden-Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion. He was named a member of the 2022 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, comprised of college football players from all divisions who have maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. Josh was a three-time ODAC All-Academic Team honoree (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22), as well.
