Chad Wien is in his second year as an assistant baseball coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2025-26. Wien had served the past four seasons (2021-24) as an assistant coach at Salisbury (MD) University, helping the Sea Gulls to the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championship and a National Runner-Up finish in 2022.
Wien assisted primarily with hitting and developing offensive strategies at SU. In addition, he assisted with strategic in-game decisions, scheduling, budgeting and travel planning, while involved with recruiting, facilities maintenance and facilitating high academic performance of student-athletes. The Sea Gulls finished 34-4 in 2021 and 39-12 in 2022, won three consecutive C2C Conference Championships (2021-23) and made four-straight NCAA Regional appearances (2021-24), winning all four, along with three NCAA Super Regional and World Series appearances—SU was 36-8 in 2023 and 32-12 in 2024.

Wien also has coaching experience with the Delmarva Aces (2017-24), serving as head coach of the DCP 2026 National Team, and was an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Indian River (DE) High School in 2020. He has recently instructed for the East Coast Titans, and was a player/coach for the University of South Florida Club Baseball Team (2017-19).
A native of Salisbury, Maryland, Wien graduated from South Florida in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. He earned his Master of Education degree with a concentration in educational leadership from Salisbury in 2024.
Chad and his wife Sarah have two daughters, Mia and Elodie.
