RACE RESULTS
EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Senior
Jackson Herndon (Chatham) posted a team-best 8K time of 27:25.3 to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a 13th-place finish at the
NCAA South Regional Preview hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Saturday morning at Panorama Farms in Earlysville. Jackson placed 30th among 155 runners as the Tigers totaled 359 points for 13th among 16 teams. Event host Lynchburg won the team race with its 28 points, while Ty Blair of Lynchburg was the individual winner with a time of 25:43.0.
Herndon posted the 21st-best time for the distance in program history, and was followed by seniors
Kam Maldonado (Palm Bay, FL) (30:06.0, 105th) and
Dylan Evans (Virginia Beach) (30:38.1, 115th), freshmen
Liam Maroney (Moseley) (30:49.9, 117th) and
Luke Stevens (Manteo, NC) (31:43.5, 129th), senior
Jefferson Duffey (Keysville) (32:19.8, 135th), along with and freshman
Elijah Tritt (King George) (33:25.3, 141st). Maldonado and Duffey each ran a collegiate-best time for the distance, while Maroney, Stevens and Tritt were running the 8K for the first time collegiately.
H-SC will race again at the prestigious
Paul Short Run, an 8K event hosted by Division I Lehigh University on Friday, October 2, at 6 p.m. on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
