VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fell to Virginia Wesleyan University 7-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC) and sophomore
Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC) were the first doubles match to finish, with the pair falling 6-0. Senior
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) and sophomore
Jonathan Fogle (Midlothian) were the next to finish, taking a 6-4 loss, and senior
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and freshman
Slade Funderburk (Camden, SC) were the final match to finish, also falling 6-4.

Fogle's match was the first to finish in singles action, which saw him fall 6-2, 6-2, with Rice being the next to finish with a 6-1, 6-3 loss. Coffey fell behind early in his match with a 6-2 defeat in set one, before rebounding with a 6-3 win, but dropped the match with a 6-2 loss in the third set. McReynolds ended up in a third set with two 6-0 sets, losing the first and winning the second, before falling 7-5 in the third set to drop the match, while Davis fell 7-5, 6-3 in the top singles match. Funderburk was the final singles match to finish, jumping out to an early lead with a 6-3 win in the first set, before falling 6-2 in the second set. In the final set, he fell 6-2 to drop the match 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, April 1, when they take on Randolph College in ODAC action. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m, at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
