HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College got two goals from junior
Kavin Wood (Cary, NC), sophomore
Broder Conley (Duluth, GA), and sophomore
Cole Palmer (Atlanta, GA), but fell to nationally-ranked No. 8 York College of Pennsylvania 12-10 in the final non-conference game of the year at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

The Spartans jumped out to an early advantage with a goal in the first five minutes, before Wood and then Conley struck for two unanswered goals to give the Tigers the lead more than halfway through the quarter. York responded with three unanswered goals over the next five minutes, before freshman
Will Foley (Virginia Beach) struck with 35 seconds remaining in the first to cut the lead to 4-3 going into the second.

The Tigers evened the score just under halfway through the quarter when Conley scored his second of the afternoon off the feed from sophomore
Barron Dobson (Shreveport, LA). York grabbed the lead back with under four to play, but then Wood got his second of the game on the man advantage with 12 seconds left, putting home the Palmer pass to make it 5-5 going into halftime.

York jumped out with two goals in the first 9:43 to take a two-goal advantage in the third quarter. The Tigers then responded with two goals in nine seconds, the first coming off the stick of Palmer, and then junior
Trey Black (Pinehurst, NC) finished off the pass from Dobson off the ensuing face-off. The Spartans got one more before the quarter ended to take a one-goal lead into the fourth quarter.

It took just 15 seconds into the fourth for the York lead to evaporate, as Palmer got his second of the afternoon off the feed from Black. The Spartans responded with two goals over two minutes, before senior
Davis Mack (Henrico) scored off a Conley pass on the man advantage to cut the lead to one. York responded with two more goals before Dobson scored with 51 seconds remaining, but that was the final goal in the game as H-SC fell 12-10.

Palmer and Conley led the way offensively with two goals and an assist, with Wood also adding two as well. Dobson scored once and added two assists, and Black had a goal and an assist. Mack and Foley each scored a goal for the Tigers.

Defensively, the Tigers were led by junior
Cameron Van Lunen (Southern Shores, NC) with three caused turnovers and five ground balls. Junior
Jack Duffy (Ambler, PA) caused two turnovers. Freshman
Alex Debender (Raleigh, NC) led the Tigers on face-offs, going 8-12 on the afternoon. Freshman
Nathan Chay (Virginia Beach) went 6-11, and senior
Evan Yntema (Summerfield, NC) went 1-2.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 4, when they hit the road for Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action against Washington and Lee University. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Wilson Field.
