Slade Funderburk (Camden, SC) took a singles and doubles victory, but Hampden-Sydney College fell to West Chester (PA) University 5-2, Tuesday afternoon.

Sam Robinson (Charlotte, NC) secured the doubles point for H-SC with a 6-2 win in the third doubles slot. Sophomores
Jonathan Fogle (Midlothian) and
Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC) teamed up in the second doubles slot and fell 6-3.

Funderburk earned his singles victory from the number five singles spot, jumping out to an early advantage with a 6-3 first set win, and followed it up with a 6-2 set two victory. Davis grabbed an early first set 7-5, before dropping the second set 6-1, forcing a third set. In the third set, he fell in the tiebreaker 10-3 to drop the match 7-5, 1-6, 0(3)-1(10). Robinson also went three sets in his match from the number four singles slot, taking the first set 6-1, before dropping set two 6-3 and set three tiebreaker 10-7 to fall 6-2, 3-6, 0(7)-1(10). Rice was the Tiger in the second singles slot, and he fell in a tight set one 7-5 before falling 6-2 in the second set. Ben Price (Charlotte, NC), who dropped the first set 6-3, and played a close second set, ultimately falling 7-5.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 11, when they take on Wheaton (MA) College at 10 a.m. in Orlando, Florida.
