BOX SCORE

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. --
Senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) made a school-record 10 three-point field goals, scoring a game-high and career-high 30 points, to lead Hampden-Sydney College to an 86-38 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball home win past Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday afternoon on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at the renovated Kirby Field House. Radcliffe connected on 10 of 21 attempts from beyond the arc for the new standard, surpassing the previous record of nine made three-pointers by Ayman McGowan '25, ironically accomplished last season at home against the Royals (2/22/25). Today, the host Tigers scored the first 25 points of the contest to lead 25-0 at 11:28 of the first half after making their seventh three-pointer to start the contest, with Radcliffe connecting on his first three attempts. It was a 48-20 advantage at halftime as the Garnet & Grey cruised to their home victory. Sophomore guard Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) added 15 points, including four three-pointers, while sophomore guard Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD) added his first collegiate double-double with 11 points and a game-high and career-high 10 rebounds. H-SC improved to 12-7 overall, 6-4 in the ODAC, while EMU dropped to 5-14 overall, 2-8 in the ODAC. The visiting Royals were led by Edixon Gomez with a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

"We did a much better job of executing on both ends today," said seventh-year head coach Caleb Kimbrough. "We are taking steps. Very thankful for all who attended the game, considering the time change on short notice. We need to build onto this one."

As mentioned, H-SC began the contest on a 25-0 run … making seven of nine three-pointers, including 3-5 by Radcliffe off the bench, as well as 2-2 by Moye and 1-1 each by Bizzelle and sophomore guard Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX). Bizzelle also added a pair of free throws, while sophomore guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) had opened the game with a driving layup. EMU finally got on the scoreboard with a free throw at 10:39, but Moye answered with his third three-pointer at 9:45 for a 28-1 advantage, before the Royals managed to close within 30-12 with 6:56 left in the half. The Tigers finished the opening 20 minutes strong, outscoring their visitors 18-8 over the final 6:29 with Radcliffe adding two more three-pointers toward 15 first-half points, including 5-9 three-pointers.

H-SC began the second half in similar fashion … scoring the first 14 points to lead 62-20 at 13:42 as Radcliffe knocked down two more three-pointers, while Moye added another triple after Lynch had scored the first five points of the half, including a fastbreak slam dunk. EMU scored its first points of the second half via a three-pointer at 12:35 (62-23), but Radcliffe answered with his eighth three-pointer at 12:16 and the Tigers led by 40 or more points for the remainder of the contest. Radcliffe's record-tying ninth three-pointer made it 75-25 with 6:04 left to play, and a steal by Radcliffe led to his record 10th three-pointer to make it 78-28 at 5:10 … with Coach Kimbrough calling a timeout as the Garnet & Grey celebrated with Radcliffe as he exited the game. H-SC played all 17 Tigers available with senior guard Davis Cauble (Richmond) adding two late three-pointers of his own for the largest lead of the day at 53 points on two occasions toward the final 48-point margin of victory.

Radcliffe, who was also celebrating his birthday, led H-SC with his game-high and career-high 30 points in 22 minutes … making 10-21 three-pointers for the new school single-game record, the most made in a game this season in the ODAC and equaling the second-most made in a game this season in NCAA Division III. Moye finished with his 15 points for the Tigers, including 4-8 three-pointers, adding four rebounds and two assists. Bizzelle contributed his first collegiate double-double with 11 points and a game-high and career-high 10 rebounds, along with three assists. Lynch and senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) each had eight points with Fernald adding five rebounds and two assists, and Lynch adding four rebounds and two assists. H-SC shot 46% (31-67) from the field, including 47% (18-38) on three-pointers, and 40% (6-15) at the free throw line. The 18 three-pointers are a season-high and the most in a game for the program since Coach Kimbrough took over prior to the 2019-20 season, surpassing 17 three-pointers at home against Lynchburg during 2022-23 (2/15/23) and in a neutral-site game versus Rose-Hulman (IN) during 2023-24 (11/18/23) in Wooster, Ohio.

Gomez led EMU with his double-double of 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The Royals shot 24% (13-54) from the field, including 21% (6-28) on three-pointers, and 67% (6-9) at the line.

H-SC remains at home to play ODAC opponent and archrival (8)Randolph-Macon College next Wednesday night, February 4, at 7 p.m. in Diaz Arena for "Whiteout Wednesday".
