HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Junior
Patrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC) led the game with three goals, and freshman
Broder Conley (Duluth, GA) scored twice, but Hampden-Sydney College fell in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals to Randolph-Macon College 11-9 on Tuesday evening.
It was the Jellow Jackets that got the scoring started in the game, finding the back of the net at the 10:57 mark before two minutes and 10 seconds later the Tigers struck as junior
Davis Mack (Henrico) found the stick of Conley for the goal. Randolph-Macon answered back to take the lead back before H-SC scored twice in the final three minutes, first when senior
Campion White (Apex, NC) found Hanes for the goal, and then junior
Tyler Steele (Pinehurst, NC) found Conley with 11 seconds remaining to make it 3-2 in favor of H-SC.
Randolph-Macon got the scoring started in the second quarter as well, opening with a three-goal run to grab the lead back. Less than a minute after the final goal for the Yellow Jackets, Hanes cut the lead to one off a Mack feed. The Yellow Jackets answered with two more goals to close the quarter and take a 7-4 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Tigers wasted no time reducing the deficit, as just over a minute in, Hanes found the back of the net for his hat trick. 20 seconds later, Steele got into the scoring column, and just under a minute after that, the game was tied on a White goal. Randolph-Macon grabbed the lead back at the 5:49 mark, but 11 seconds later, the game was tied when senior
Conor Kilfeather (Wyndmoor, PA) found sophomore
Kavin Wood (Cary, NC) for the goal to knot the game at eight going into the final 15 minutes.
Randolph-Macon grabbed the lead back in the fourth quarter at the 9:48 mark and added a further two goals over six minutes to take a three-goal lead. A minute after the third straight for the Yellow Jackets, freshman
Nick Winchell (Wilmington, DE) cut the lead to two with 2:55 left to play. Unfortunately, the Tigers did not find two more goals to force overtime and fall in the quarterfinals 11-9.
Hanes led the game with three goals, and Conley found the back of the net twice. White and Steele had a goal and an assist, while Wood and Winchell each scored once. Mack had two assists and Kilfeather had one.
