Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) and sophomore
Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC) took singles and doubles victories to help Hampden-Sydney College close out the regular season with an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win on Senior Day against Guilford (NC) College Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers got things started in doubles actions with a pair of 6-2 victories to secure the doubles point, starting in the third slot with McReynolds and his partner, freshman
Jonathan Fogle (Midlothian), and finishing in the second slot with junior
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and freshman
Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC). Doubles action finished with the top slot of Davis and senior
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) winning a six-all tiebreaker 7-4 to win the match 7(7)-6(4).
Singles action opened with a win for McReynolds in the fourth slot, as his opponent retired three points into the first set, with him up 2-1. Davis secured his singles victory in the second slot, cruising to a 6-0 first-set win and grabbing the second set 6-1. Senior
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) secured the team victory for H-SC with his straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win in the sixth slot. Senior
Henry Singleton (Richmond) was the next to finish in the fifth slot, jumping out to a lead with a 6-2 first-set win, and was leading 4-0 before his opponent retired to secure him the victory. Foster was the next to finish in the top slot, taking a 6-1, 6-2 loss, and Rice was the final match to finish in the third slot, where he fell 6-3, 7-5.
