No. 3 Seed Hampden-Sydney Falls In The 2025 ODAC Men's Tennis Quarterfinals To No. 6 Seed Randolph 4-2

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Junior Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and freshman Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC) took a doubles win, while seniors Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) and Henry Singleton (Richmond) took singles wins, but No. 3 Seed Hampden-Sydney College fell in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Tennis Quarterfinals to No. 6 Seed Randolph College 4-2 Wednesday afternoon.

In doubles action, the third slot of junior Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) and freshman Jonathan Fogle (Midlothian) were the first to finish, taking a 6-4 loss. The Tigers tied it up at one doubles match apiece as Coffey and Rice grabbed a 6-4 win in the second slot. The final doubles match to finish was the top slot that featured senior Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and sophomore Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC) that saw the match tied up at six all and go into a tiebreaker that the pair loss 7-4 to drop the match 7(7)-6(4) to fall behind 1-0.

Fox tied the match at one to start singles action with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the sixth slot. Davis fell in the second slot 7-5, 6-1, as the Tigers fell a point behind before Singleton tied the match at two in the fifth slot after battling back from a 6-0 first set loss to take set two 6-2, and lead set three 4-0 before his opponent retired. The WildCats responded by taking the third slot that featured Rice, who fell 6-2, 6-2, to make it 3-2 in favor of Randolph. The final match to finish was in the top slot, where Foster jumped out to a 6-1 first set win, but fell in the second set 6-4 to force a third set. In the third set he fell 3-6 to drop the match 6-1, 4-6, 3-6, as Randolph secured the victory.

The fourth slot was left unfinished as McReynolds dropped the first set 6-2 but bounced back to take a 6-3 second set win. The third and final set saw him up 3-0 before the match was abandoned.
