Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC) to earn a 7-0 win against the University of Lynchburg in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday afternoon.
Doubles action opened with a win in the top slot by Foster and Davis, who grabbed a 6-4 result to lead things off. Rice and his partner, junior
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) earned H-SC the doubles point with a 7-5 win in the second doubles slot. The third and final doubles match saw junior
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) pair up with freshman
Jonathan Fogle (Midlothian) where they fell 6-3.
H-SC kicked off singles action with a 7-6, 7-5 win in the top slot by Foster and then a 6-0, 6-1 win in the second slot by Davis. Rice took the singles win in the third slot 6-2, 6-1, with McReynolds grabbing a 6-2, 6-1, win in the fourth match. Senior
Henry Singleton (Richmond) was the Tiger in the fifth singles slot, and he fell behind early with a 6-4 loss in the first set before rebounding with a 6-3 win in the second set to force a third set. In the third set, he won the tiebreaker 11-9 to take the set 1-0 and the match 4-6, 6-3, 1(11)-0(9). The final singles match featured senior
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) who took the first set 6-3 and cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set to take the match.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 26, when they play host to Guilford (NC) College to close out the regular season. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
