ASHLAND, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College took all singles and doubles victories to win a 7-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match over Randolph-Macon College Friday evening.
Doubles action opened with a win in the top slot by senior
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and sophomore
Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC), who took a 6-2 result. Also grabbing a 6-2 win were junior
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and freshman
Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC), and seniors
John Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) and
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) took a 6-1 win in the third doubles slot.
Singles action kicked off with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the fifth slot by senior
Henry Singleton (Richmond) and was followed by a 6-0, 6-0 win in the second slot by Davis. Rice finished the third singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and senior
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) made it four straight 6-0, 6-0 wins in the fourth slot.
Matt Kendrick was the next to finish with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the sixth singles slot, with Foster being the final match to finish in the top slot, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 19, when they return home to host the University of Lynchburg in ODAC action. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
