Bobby Holihan (Yorktown) started on the mound and pitched the first 6.0 innings for his first collegiate pitching victory for the visiting Tigers (4-7) in the seven-inning, run-rule contest against the host Fighting Squirrels (0-9).
H-SC scored 16 runs on 16 hits with one error … scoring two runs each in the first and second innings, one run in the third, two runs in the fifth, three runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh. MBU scored no runs on five hits with no errors.
In the first, junior center fielder and team captain
Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (2-2, 2 RBIs) opened the contest with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on a single by senior first baseman and team captain
Grayson Harris (Moseley) (2-5) and scored when he and Harris executed a double-steal—his second of the game and of the rare variety of stealing home. Harris then stole third base and scored with one out on an RBI ground ball off the bat of Moore (3-4, 4 RBIs) for a 2-0 advantage.
In the second, Masterson (3-5, 2 RBIs) singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch before junior second baseman
Turner Fitzpatrick (Mechanicsville) (RBI) was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore catcher
Noah Leonard (Troutville) (1-3), and both crossed the plate when Wilson followed with a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.
In the third, Moore singled and advanced to second on a failed pick-off attempt, stole third and scored on an RBI ground ball off the bat of senior designated hitter
Jahiem Green (Stafford) (2-3, 2 RBIs) for a 5-0 margin.
In the fifth, Moore drew a walk to begin the frame, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Green. After a pitching change, Green stole third and crossed the plate when the throw was errant … for a 7-0 advantage.
In the sixth, Wilson was hit by a pitch to open the at-bat and advanced to third on a single by Harris, scoring on a sacrifice fly RBI by junior third baseman
Matthew Arnold (Danville) (RBI). Harris scored when Moore followed with a run-scoring single, and Moore advanced to second on another failed pick-off attempt, ahead of a walk to Green. The Tigers had the bases loaded when senior right fielder and team captain
Christian Lancaster (Danville) (1-3) was safe a first on a fielder's choice, and Moore scored when Masterson followed with an RBI double for a 10-0 lead.
In the seventh, Leonard singled as the lead-off batter and advanced to second when Wilson was hit by a pitch, and Wilson was replaced by junior team captain
Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) as a pinch-runner. The bases were loaded once-again following a one-out single by junior
Hunter Powell (Ridgeway) (1-1), and Leonard and Sanford crossed the plate on a two-run single by Moore. Back-to-back walks to Green and Lancaster forced Arnold across the plate, and Moore scored on an RBI single by Masterson. Green would cross the plate when Fitzpatrick reached on an RBI fielder's choice, and Lancaster scored on a two-out, pinch-hit RBI double by sophomore

Holihan (1-1) pitched the first 6.0 shutout innings for his first career win, scattering five hits with a career-high five strikeouts and no walks. Senior right-hander
