Sophomore right-hander Hank Blanton (Midlothian) gained the pitching win in relief in the 4-2 opener, the first of his collegiate career, while junior right-hander Jacob Williams (Chesapeake) gained the mound win in relief in the 10-2 nightcap for the host Tigers (7-9) against the visiting Seahawks (0-8).

In game one, H-SC scored four runs on eight hits with one error … scoring one run in the third and three runs in the decisive sixth. SMCM scored two runs on two hits with one error … scoring one run each in the fourth and seventh innings of the scheduled seven-inning contest.

In the third, after junior center fielder and team captain Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (1-3) was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second and third base, and scored with two outs on an RBI single to right field by Moore (2-3, RBI) for a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth, senior shortstop Jaxon Masterson (Raleigh, NC) (1-1) reached on a two-out walk and advanced to second on a single up the middle by sophomore catcher Noah Leonard (Troutville) (2-3). Masterson crossed the plate when senior Christian Chambers (Midlothian) (1-1, RBI) provided a clutch RBI single to right field as a pinch-hitter, advancing Leonard to second. Both Leonard and Chambers scored when Harris promptly followed with a two-run double down the left field line for a 4-1 advantage toward the final margin of victory.

Sophomore left-hander Adam Emhoff (Chesapeake) started the opener and pitched the first 4.0 solid innings, yielding no hits and one run, earned, with four strikeouts and one walk. Blanton (1-0) tossed the final 3.0 innings for the win in relief, scattering two hits and one run, earned, with one strikeout and one walk.

In the second, Wilson ((RBI) was hit by a pitch to begin the at-bat, advanced to second on a fielder's choice off the bat of senior right fielder and team captain Christian Lancaster (Danville), and both runners advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt by Masterson (1-3). Smith (1-3, 3 RBIs) followed with a fielder's choice RBI to first base that plated Wilson, and Lancaster crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly RBI to left field by freshman third baseman Jack Wells (Sutherland) (RBI) for a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Wilson was once-again hit by a pitch as the lead-off batter and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Lancaster was hit by a pitch, as well. The bases were loaded with no outs after Masterson reached on a bunt single to the pitcher. Smith followed with a two-run single down the right field line to score both Wilson and Lancaster, and the bases were full again after a walk to Wells. Harris then provided an RBI single to left field that scored Masterson, and after a walk to sophomore catcher Ian Martin (Martinsville), Wells crossed the plate on a line-drive sacrifice fly RBI to left field by junior right fielding and team captain Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) (RBI).
