ORLANDO, FL -- Hampden-Sydney College took wins in all three doubles matches and six singles matches to take a 7-0 win over Maryville (TN) College on Monday afternoon in Orlando, Florida.
H-SC jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles action. Senior
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and sophomore
Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC) took a 6-3 win in the top doubles slot. Juniors
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) and
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) took a 6-2 win in the second slot, while seniors
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) and
Henry Singleton (Richmond) took a 6-2 win in the third doubles match.
 Davis got singles action started from the third slot, taking a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win. Singleton backed up Davis with a win in the fifth slot with the same scoreline 6-1, 6-0. Freshman
Emerson Rice (Columbia, SC) claimed an overall victory for H-SC with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the fourth singles slot. Fox was the next singles match to finish, taking both sets 6-3 to take the match. Foster grabbed a 6-4 win in the first set of the top singles match, and then battled to take a second set 7-5 win to take the match. The final singles match to finish was the second slot featuring McReynolds, where he went to a tiebreaker in the first set, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 to take set one and winning an 8-6 tiebreaker to take the second set and grab the match.
The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday, March 11, when they take on nationally ranked No. 5 Case Western Reserve (OH) University at 8 a.m. and follow up with Ohio Northern at 6 p.m. all in Orlando, Florida.
