The Tigers are 4-1 overall, 0-0 in the ODAC, following an 84-71 non-conference home win past Pfeiffer (NC) University on November 23 on the new Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at Kirby Field House. The second-ranked Yellow Jackets are 4-0 overall, 0-0 in the ODAC, after a 92-57 non-conference home win past (RV)Yeshiva (NY) University on Nov. 15. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 110-45 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.710) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD) averages 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds with six three-pointers (60%). Senior forward
Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) contributes 9.2 points and 5.6 rebounds, while sophomore guard
Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) adds 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists. H-SC is shooting 50% (142-287) from the field, including 39% (26-67) on three-pointers, and 61% (78-129) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 77.6 points, and yield 61.0 points, for a +16.6 scoring margin.
Scouting No. 2 Randolph-Macon
RMC is coached by 11th-year head coach Josh Merkel and has been led by senior guard Jabril Robinson, who is averaging 11.8 points (7 3FGs), 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists, as well as senior guard Keishawn Pulley Jr., who is also averaging 11.0 points (9 3FGs) and 2.0 rebounds. The Yellow Jackets shoot 49% (125-256) from the field, including 38% (33-86) on three-pointers, and 66% (39-59) at the line. RMC is scoring 80.5 points, and yielding 63.0 points, for a +17.5 scoring margin.
Series History
H-SC and RMC are playing for the 172nd time since the 1949-50 season. The Yellow Jackets lead the overall series, 103-68, including 51-33 as basketball members of the ODAC since the 1989-90 campaign. The Tigers, however, have won three of the last four meetings, including both games played last season: 84-77 on November 13, 2024 at H-SC, and 79-72 on December 7, 2024 in Ashland—their second consecutive road win at RMC.

He has five consecutive double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points in his more recent game vs. Pfeiffer (11/23). Lynch grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds vs. (RV)Keene State (11/8). Santana was limited to four games last season before a season-ending injury in December.

He has four double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 18 points vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7)—making a career-high four three-pointers. Moye has equaled his career-high of five rebounds two times, most recent vs. Mary Baldwin (11/22). Peter played in 23 games last season, averaging 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists.

Tugg Bizzelle has taken his game to another level this season, as well ... averaging 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while shooting 46% (22-48) from the field, including 60% (6-10) on three-point field goals, and 53% (8-15) at the free throw line. He has two double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points at Salisbury (11/12)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Bizzelle also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Salisbury (11/12). Tugg started three of 29 games last season, averaging 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Alex Cannon (Loganville, GA)Â is yet another Tiger who has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 6.4 points and 7.0 rebounds with 13 blocks (2.6), while shooting 74% (14-19) from the field. He has posted career-highs of eight points vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7) and 11 rebounds vs. Pfeiffer (11/23), along with a season-high four blocks vs. (7)UW-La Crosse. Alex played in 22 games last season, averaging 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds with 11 blocks (0.5).

H-SC ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage defense (33.8) and defensive rebounds (34.8), 10th in scoring defense (61.0), 13th in three-point field goal percentage defense (25.2) and rebounds per game (45.6), 16th in rebound margin (11.4), 19th in scoring margin (16.6) and 24th in three-point percentage (38.8).
Alex Cannon ranks 12th in blocks per game (2.6) and 25th in blocks (13).

Alex Cannon was also named to the All-Classic Team ... averaging 5.5 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 FT) and 10.0 rebounds with five blocks, two assists and one steal.
The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in
527 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest ... 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

Leading the Tigers is senior guard
Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business at the College.
ODAC Preseason Poll
H-SC was picked fourth in the
2025-26 ODAC Preseason Poll. The Tigers earned 96 points among the 12 conference schools. Randolph-Macon was picked first with 121 points and 11 first-place votes, while Virginia Wesleyan was chosen second with 104 points, followed by Roanoke in third with 103 points and the other first-place vote, H-SC (fourth, 96) and Lynchburg with 81 points to round-out the Top Five. The remainder of the poll includes Shenandoah (64), Guilford (58) and Washington and Lee (58), Averett (34), Bridgewater (33), Randolph (26) and Eastern Mennonite (14).
Program History
H-SC is competing in its 116th-year of basketball during 2025-26. The Tigers have an overall program record of
1,544-1,103 since beginning in 1908. H-SC has posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.
NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made
17 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-18. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61, as well as in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.
Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches.
Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and
Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Nov. 30, Turner was 326-191 at UCI (5-4 this season) and Odom was 207-118 overall, including 6-1 this season at UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC.Â
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally,
Ryan Silverfield '03 was recently named the head football coach at Arkansas. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.

H-SC remains on the road at ODAC opponent Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. in Harrisonburg. The Tigers will be idle for fall semester examinations Dec. 9-13, before hosting the Elder, Friedman & Allen Holiday Classic on Dec. 19-20.
