LEXINGTON, Va. -- No. 3 seed Hampden-Sydney College fell to No. 2 seed Washington and Lee University 2-0 in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday night at Alston Parker Watt Field.
Both sides worked their way into the game in the first half, but the offenses got going as the game went on, with the sides taking 10 total shots, but none were able to find the back of the net. Each goalie was called into action once, but rose to the occasion to keep the score level going into the break.
The sides were level in the second half until the 63rd minute, when the Generals broke the deadlock off a corner. Washington and Lee then doubled its tally in the 78th minute off a counterattack to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers tried to mount a comeback, but could not break through the defense of the Generals, ultimately falling 2-0 to end their ODAC Tournament run.
The Tigers trailed the Generals in both shots (16-8), and shots on target (5-2).
Freshman goalie
Stig Larson (Richmond) made three saves in the game.
The Tigers will wait to see if they qualify for the NCAA Tournament, with the selection show airing on November 10, at 11:30 a.m. on NCAA.com.
