Terry Hicks (Clayton, NC) added career-highs of 130 yards rushing and two touchdowns, as Hampden-Sydney College scored 30 unanswered points in the fourth quarter for a 51-30 come-from-behind and non-conference football road win at Brevard College on Saturday afternoon in North Carolina. Brendan Wallace (Virginia Beach) had career-highs of 11 tackles and three sacks—earning first-year head coach
Vince Luvara his first victory with the Garnet & Grey.
"Proud of the team's finish," said Luvara. "A lot of teams would have quit there in the third quarter. They finished and that is what being a champion is all about."
BC took the opening possession of the contest and drove 79 yards with Chancellor Lee-Parker scoring on a four-yard touchdown run at 11:08. Hugo Taylor added the first of his four PAT kick for the early 7-0 advantage for the Tornados.

The Garnet & Grey followed with another touchdown on their second possession as Sido found
Sutton Lasso over the middle for a 12-yard scoring pass, and the PAT kick by Swett made it 14-7 at 2:02. It was an eight-play, 82-yard drive that featured pass plays of 25 yards from Sido to sophomore wide receiver

Manning Lasso, along with an 11-yard run by Sido, and a crucial six-yard pass from Sido to Hicks out of the backfield on fourth and five on the play before the touchdown.
H-SC looked like it had prevented a BC touchdown following a long drive by the Tornados that ended with a fumble at the Tigers' one-yard line late in the second quarter. Unfortunately, after taking over at its own one-yard line, and following a nine-yard run by Hicks, Sido was intercepted on second down by James Woods who scored on the pick 6 at 5:25 of the second quarter. Taylor's PAT kick tied the contest at 14-14, which was the score at halftime after a missed 50-yard field goal attempt by Swett with 23-seconds left in the quarter.
The Tigers got back on the scoreboard with a touchdown on their first possession of the second half, driving 76 yards on eight plays as Sido connected with Dowdy in the end zone for a 30-yard scoring pass on fourth and 19. Swett added the PAT kick for the 21-14 lead at 12:47 of the third quarter. The drive included an 11-yard pass from Sido to
Manning Lasso and a nine-yard run by Hicks, and was aided by a pair of 15-yard penalties.
H-SC came right back with an interception by senior cornerback
Kyle Lafayette (Charleston, SC) deep in its own territory, but the Tigers yielded a safety when Sido was sacked and fumbled with the recovery in the end zone to make it 21-16 with 10:16 left in the quarter. BC followed the safety with a scoring drive of its own that ended with a three-yard touchdown run by Lee-Parker at 6:56, and the PAT kick by Taylor gave the hosts their first advantage of the day at 23-21.
BC added to its lead late in the third quarter when Lee-Parker scored on a five-yard touchdown run with 1:16 on the clock, and Taylor's PAT kick pushed the margin to 30-21, where it stood after three quarters.
The Garnet & Grey answered back with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Sido to Fernandez down the left side of the field on the first play of the fourth quarter, and Swett's PAT kick made it a two-point game at 30-28 with 14:52 left to play. It was a six-play, 65-yard drive that included a pair of completions from Sido to
Manning Lasso covering nine yards.
H-SC made a defensive stop and forced a punt, taking over at its own 34-yard line … promptly driving 66 yards on 11 plays for the go-ahead points with Hicks scoring on a five-yard touchdown run at 8:32. Sido added the successful two-point conversion run for a 36-30 advantage. The possession featured a crucial 36-yard pass from Sido to Fernandez on fourth and five to keep the drive alive.
The Tigers' defense stood tall once-again and forced another Tornados' punt with the offense taking over again, this time at the BC 47-yard line. It took eight plays to reach the end zone with freshman running back
Fain Barton (Atlanta, GA) scoring on a 13-yard run with 4:10 left to play. Sido added his second consecutive two-point conversion run for a 44-30 lead. Key to the drive was a fumble recovery by freshman left guard
Cash Topinka (Charlotte, NC) on a third down play that he advanced 13 yards for a first down. Barton covered the final 27 yards on three attempts.
The Garnet & Grey defense was stout yet again and this time forced a turnover on downs by the home team following a sack by Wallace on fourth and 10 with 2:58 on the clock.
The visitors were looking to run out the clock on the ground with Hicks, who took a direct snap three plays in and ran 42 yards for the game's final touchdown at 1:25. Swett's PAT kick provided for the final margin of victory and the first win for Coach Luvara.
