HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Freshman
Thomas Davis (Charlotte, NC) won both his singles and doubles match but Hampden-Sydney College fell 5-4 to Randolph College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action, Tuesday afternoon at the H-SC Tennis Courts.

Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) opened the match with a win from the second doubles slot, taking the match 8-5. Junior
Matt Kendrick (Birmingham, AL) and sophomore
Tanner Allison (Midlothian) followed suit in the third doubles match also taking an 8-5 win. In the final doubles match to finish, sophomores
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) and
Casey Coffey (Midlothian) played a close match falling 8-7 but H-SC took a 2-1 lead into singles action.
The Tigers pushed the lead even further with two quick wins, the first coming from Davis in the fourth singles match taking a 6-1, 6-0 win, and sophomore
John Glassner (Charlotte, NC) taking a 6-2, 6-2 win in the sixth singles match. Kendrick fell in the fifth singles match, dropping the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-3. Fox battled in the second singles match, dropping a close 6-4 set one before falling 6-0 in the second set to drop the match. McReynolds played a close 6-4 set one which he lost, and played an even closer set two before falling to a 7-6 set two. The final match was the decisive one, as the match was tied at four apiece with junior
Henry Singleton (Richmond) left to finish. Singleton dropped set one 6-3 but battled back in set two to force a tiebreaker to decide the set. The tiebreaker was hard fought, but ultimately Singleton dropped the tiebreaker 13-11 to drop the second set 7-6.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, March 11, when they travel to take on rival Randolph-Macon College in ODAC action. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Banks Tennis Center.
