Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) has garnered additional honors this week—today being named both the
United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week and to the
D3hoops.com Team of the Week, for games played November 8-17. He led the nationally-ranked No. 23 Tigers to a pair of season-opening wins, averaging 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 36.5 minutes, while shooting 63% (17-27) from the field, including 38% (3-8) on three-point field goals, and 88% (14-16) at the free throw line.
Adam
scored a game-high and career-high 34 points during an 84-77 home win past archrival and No. 7 Randolph-Macon College on Nov. 13 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. He made 10-16 field goals, including two three-point field goals, while a perfect 12-12 at the free throw line, and equaled his career-high with a game-high eight rebounds, adding two assists. The 34 points are the most scored by a Tiger since Mike Murray '16 scored 40 points at Emory & Henry College on February 1, 2014. It's also the most points scored in Fleet Gym since Turner King '10 scored 36 points against Greensboro (NC) College on December 30, 2007. Brazil added 17 points, a game-high six assists and four rebounds during an 81-64 road win at (RV)Swarthmore College on Nov. 9 in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. He was previously named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
(ODAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (11/18).
H-SC is 2-0 overall and scheduled to play on the road at non-conference opponent and No. 5 Christopher Newport University (4-0) on Tuesday night, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Newport News.
