ARLINGTON, Va. -- Freshman
Mo Wumpini (Chattanooga, TN) scored a goal in the 77th minute to give Hampden-Sydney College a 1-1 draw on the road at Marymount University Wednesday night at Long Bridge Park in Arlington.
The Tigers got off to a slow start, as the Saints took control of the game early and capped off the early advantage with an inch-perfect goal in the seventh minute, that just found its way past junior goalkeeper
Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD). H-SC grew into the game, however, closing out the half strong and were pushing towards a goal.
The second half was all H-SC and its dominance was rewarded in the 77th minute when Wumpini finished off a deflected shot from sophomore
Charlie Letson (Wilmington, NC) to level the game at one. Four minutes later, the Tigers would find themselves down a man as Wumpini got his second yellow card of the night sending him off, and leaving the Tigers down a man for the final nine minutes. The defense held strong, only allowing one shot in the final nine minutes to secure the 1-1 result.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, September 8, for a road battle at Mary Baldwin University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at SMA Worth Field in Staunton.
