HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College won all nine of its matches to take a 9-0 victory over visiting Virginia State University, Saturday afternoon at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, all three pairs powered through their opponents. Sophomore
Barrett Foster (Virginia Beach) and senior
Patrick Conde (Virginia Beach) took their match 8-0. Freshman
Dillon McReynolds (Abingdon) and sophomore
Nick Beaudoin (Norfolk) also took their match 8-0. In the final doubles match, sophomores
Henry Singleton (Richmond) and
Pierce Gemborys (Wilmington, NC) grabbed an 8-0 victory.
Conde kept his play from doubles action rolling into singles action, as he won in the second singles slot 6-0, 6-0. Gemborys earned his first career singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Beaudoin also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Freshman
John Glassner (Charlotte, NC) took his match 6-1, 6-2, and fellow classmate
Tanner Allison (Midlothian) grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Sophomore
Taylor Fox (Virginia Beach) was tested in his match, losing the first set 6-4, before batting back to take the second set 6-4 and win the final set 10-5 to take the match.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, April 13 when they play host to the University of Lynchburg in ODAC action. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the H-SC Tennis Courts.
